These figs found me on a family vacation to Sonoma; mornings at the farmers market, evenings at the vineyards, life moving slow in the best way. I was there with my mom, my sisters, our partners, all of us just existing together without any particular agenda.

I spotted these at the market and couldn't leave without them. Deep green skin, raspberry red centers, nestled together in a simple gray cardboard punnet. The contrast stopped me. The way something so delicate and jewel-like could sit so casually in a little cardboard container. Their color practically glows against the gray.

Figs remind me of easy summer evenings, and that's exactly what this painting holds.
