Cherry Ave. began as a detour; a wisteria vine spotted mid-stride on a familiar Long Beach walk, on the way to coffee at Alder and Sage, that suddenly demanded to be painted. I stood there longer than I meant to admiring the petals.
Getting it onto canvas was its own kind of struggle: the tangle of petals resists any shortcut, and finding those perfect, elusive pastels meant mixing, second-guessing, and mixing again. The result feels like that morning, soft light, a little suspended.
